Job Ref: VA-129

Since 1985 Freedom from Torture has been the only UK human rights organization dedicated to treating and supporting torture survivors who seek refuge in the UK. We do this primarily through psychological therapies but also services which document torture forensically, practical legal and welfare support and creative groups.

Thanks to the dedication of our staff and volunteers – as well as thousands of passionate supporters and funders – thousands of torture survivors have been able to rebuild their lives in incredibly difficult circumstances.

An exciting opportunity to lead the Freedom from Torture's international advocacy programme. By using clinical evidence of torture and through working closely with survivor advocates the programme contributes to international mechanisms working to prevent torture and ensure that those responsible for torture are held accountable.

You will develop policy analysis and advocacy strategies to deliver a number of country projects under Freedom from Torture's Accountability Programme including leading on relationships with governments, international institutions, foreign and domestic policy communities and partner organisations.

You will champion survivor-led activism and collaborate with research and advocacy colleagues, clinicians, legal and welfare advisors and other Freedom from Torture staff and survivors to ensure our formidable evidence base is harnessed to shine a light on torture practices around the world and deliver positive change for the benefit of survivors.
