Would you like to use your clinical or counselling psychology skills to provide tailored psychological therapies to help improve the lives and wellbeing of survivors of torture and organised violence?

We have an exciting opportunity for a HCPC registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join our innovative and friendly multidisciplinary team. Freedom from Torture is a sector-leading charity that provides holistic rehabilitation services to survivors of torture.

Our team of experienced clinicians offer a range of specialist therapy interventions, to survivors of torture. Our clinical model is holistic, evidence-based, and places survivor choice and survivor empowerment at its core. We offer effective treatment to overcome common psychological problems arising from torture and work to empower our clients. We work as a multidisciplinary team to offer a personalised recovery plan making use of a range of individual and group interventions to help our clients in their recovery. We work closely alongside our in-house legal and welfare colleagues to offer the support our client group need in their recovery. We are excited to also have a survivor empowerment directorate and strongly value placing survivors at the heart of all that we do. Freedom from Torture is also dedicated to informing best-practice through innovative research.

Freedom from Torture also works to have an impact on the wider community in ensuring other relevant services can offer effective treatment for survivors of torture. This post also involves Training and Capacity Building (TCB) to support this, and will include offering supervision to clinical/counselling psychology trainees.

It’s key to this role that you’re able to be compassionate and sensitive to the experiences of the survivors. You must have demonstrable professional experience of holistically assessing the impact of trauma and offering suitable interventions.

In return, we offer a competitive package, with a generous 30 day annual leave entitlement, and 6% employer pension contribution (minimum 1% employee contribution).

Freedom from Torture is an equal opportunity employer. People with lived experience of torture or asylum, from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQIA+ individuals and people with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.

This is an exciting chance to join us as we place survivor empowerment and movement building at the heart of our next four year strategy. If you would like to make a positive difference to the lives of survivors we would love to hear from you.
