Freedom from Torture is dedicated to healing and protecting people who have survived torture. We provide therapies to improve physical and mental health, we medically document torture, and we provide legal and welfare help. We expose torture globally, we fight to hold torturing states to account and we campaign for fairer treatment of torture survivors in the UK.

As a Trustee, you will be joining at an exciting time as we rollout our new rights-based model of rehabilitation and scale up our work to re-vitalise an effective anti-torture movement in the UK.

We are especially proud of our survivor activism programme which is leading the way internationally in amplifying the voice of torture survivors and making sure they are central to the prevention of torture and protection of survivors.

This is an opportunity to help shape and steer Freedom from Torture, and to support and make a real difference to torture survivors and our committed community of staff, volunteers and supporters.

We are looking for a Treasurer who understands and cares about Freedom from Torture’s charitable aims. You will also understand good governance and what the role of a non-executive Trustee involves.

You need to be a qualified accountant with experience in financial management and controls including audit and risk in a charity context. The successful appointee will chair our new Finance, Governance and Audit Committee.

We would be delighted to hear from you if you share our passion for the care and rights of torture survivors.
