Contract: Permanent

Since 1985 Freedom from Torture has been the only UK human rights organization dedicated to treating and supporting torture survivors who seek refuge in the UK. We do this primarily through psychological therapies but also services which document torture forensically, practical legal and welfare support and creative groups.

Thanks to the dedication of our staff and volunteers – as well as thousands of passionate supporters and funders – thousands of torture survivors have been able to rebuild their lives in incredibly difficult circumstances.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team in the Glasgow centre as an experienced Senior Community Worker. The post holder will be responsible for managing a team of community workers and volunteers and lead the development of the community development programme, ensure an effective support to survivor’s rehabilitation, recovery and settlement in the wider community   and foster strong relationships with stakeholders, partners, and clients.

The ideal candidate will have an extensive community work/development experience, supporting staff and volunteers, managing projects,, and an ability to support the personal empowerment of individuals to effect change within themselves and their communities and engage survivors to participate actively in activities towards promoting their psychological wellbeing and integration.
